Eupharbia tirucalli L.

Eupharbia tirucalli L. is herbal plants which has several virtues for human's health. In Indonesia, it is popularly known as kayu urip or patah tulang, because of its appearance which almost only contain of branch. This plantation can be found in many places, some people even plant it around their house as fence.


It is believed that its branch which has been dried can be used to smoke out the mosquito if it is burned. Moreover, its gum tree can be used as medicine for part of body which have injured. However, its gum is dangerous for eyes, so we must be careful in handling this trees. The gum of this plant contains euphorbone, taraksasterol, alfa-laktucerol, euphol, damar yang compound.

Based on its contain, eupharbia tirucalli L can cure many diseases like gastric pain, rheumatic, syphilitic, nerve pain, skin diseases, leprosy; Hemorrhoids, broken bones, toothache, enlarged and itchy moles, warts; Pierced by sharp objects (glass), calluses / thickening of the skin, sprains, etc.
